Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of OptaPDF (the "Service") at optapdf.com. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

OptaPDF provides free, web-based tools to merge, split, compress, convert, edit, sign, protect, and otherwise process PDF and document files. The Service is provided free of charge, without requiring an account.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use OptaPDF only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Upload or process any file you do not own or have the right to use, or that infringes the intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
  • Use the Service to process illegal, malicious, or harmful content, including malware;
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • Use automated means to abuse the Service beyond reasonable personal or business use (the API is rate-limited).

You are solely responsible for the files you upload and for ensuring you have the right to process them.

3. Your Files and Privacy

Files you upload are processed temporarily and permanently deleted within 30 minutes, as described in our Privacy Policy and Security Policy. We do not claim any ownership of your files, and we do not review them manually.

4. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. As we openly state in our Editorial Standards, some conversions between complex formats are inherently imperfect. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output will be perfectly accurate. Always keep a backup of your original files.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OptaPDF and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

6. Intellectual Property

The OptaPDF name, logo, website design, written guides, and software are the property of OptaPDF and its operators. You may not copy, scrape, or republish our content without permission. Your own files and their contents remain entirely yours.

7. Third-Party Links and Advertising

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (including our partner network of Utility Tools) and may display third-party advertising. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party sites or advertisers.

8. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
